Madeira Cask Finish is a unique and rare Agricole rum that consists of a 6-year-old rum blended with one of the very last rums to be produced in the historic “Engenho do Hinton” which closed in 1985.

No color or flavor has been added, the sophisticated aroma profiles and the harmonious tasting notes result from a 6-month finish in a carefully selected 500L Ex-Madeira Wine Cask.The fermented sugar cane juice underwent a single distillation in a century-old column still and the subtropical climate of Madeira Island allowed for an exceptional maturation.

Destined for a selected few, a great voyage of the senses awaits within.

Our 6-year-old rum, carefully aged in French oak barrels, has been blended with a 25-year-old rum, certainly one of the last rums to be produced at the old Hinton Mill facility, the latter was also subjected to a new aging process in our casks for another 3 years.

Finally, the product that resulted from this unique combination of rums of different ages was subjected to a final stage with a duration of 9 months.

TASTING NOTES

Appearance

Clear, almost golden amber, vivacious.

Aroma

A rum with a sophisticated, quite elegant perfume. Sweet nose, with notes of dried grass, cane, licorice, almond cake, tobacco leaf, toffee, coffee, and a somewhat exotic soft wood. From a general point of view it is a very captivating aroma that makes us go back to the glass, over and over again.

Flavor

In the palate the rum is round and well balanced, a true nectar. As soon as the rum enters the mouth a symphony of flavours begin, wood, spices, peach compote, figs, tobacco, all merged into a splendorous harmony. A medium dry, smooth finish with spices, licorice and fennel.
