Spanish Fortified Wine Cask Finish is a unique and rare Agricole rum that consists of a 6-year-old rum blended with one of the very last rums to be produced in the historic “Engenho do Hinton” which closed in 1985.
No color or flavor has been added, the opulent aroma profiles and the layered tasting notes result from a 6-month finish in a carefully selected 225L Ex-Spanish Fortified Wine Cask from the South of Spain. The fermented sugar cane juice underwent a single distillation in a century-old column still and the subtropical climate of Madeira Island allowed for an exceptional maturation.
Destined for a selected few, a great voyage of the senses awaits within.

PROCESS
Our 6-year-old rum, carefully aged in French oak barrels, has been blended with a 25-year-old rum, certainly one of the last rums to be produced at the old Hinton Mill facility, the latter was also subjected to a new aging process in our casks for another 3 years.
Finally, the product that resulted from this unique combination of rums of different ages was subjected to a final stage with a duration of 9 months.

TASTING NOTES
Appearance
Clear, dark amber colour, bright.
Aroma
Marvellously intense in a refined way, an excellent interaction with wood that highlights the main culprit, Xerez’s wine. Rich and complex bouquet with notes of dried fruits, nougat, hazelnuts, walnuts and caramelized sugar. Raisins, figs, honey, crystallized fruit and cocoa.
Flavor
A rum of Connoisseur level, with a very peculiar palate, dry and quite rich. Intense with a structured palate, it has several layers of flavours, with many dried fruits, predominantly walnuts and hazelnuts, molasses, tobacco leaf, wood and some spice. The end of the mouth is long and dry where memories of family Christmas nights with hands full of raisins and dried fruits come to mind. This rum is a fantastic partner of a good cigar.
